Apart from the existing LLM and PhD programmes, organizing or participating in international symposiums, workshops and courses, and from collaborating with other key institutions in the World, DEHUKAM runs a Post-Doctoral Program in the Sea and Maritime Law. The Programme is designed to strengthen and enhance the education and the research capability of the potential scholars and researchers in order to meet the national and international needs in the area of Maritime Law and the Law of the Sea. Through DEHUKAM fellowships, researchers from Turkey and different countries who have recently earned their PhD can gain invaluable experience working with specialists in the field and experts on a practical level. At DEHUKAM the postdoctoral fellows will experience a lively international atmosphere focused on interdisciplinary research. Our center is committed to provide them with the training, mentoring to successfully progress in their desired research fields, however candiates who will work on the Environmental Law of the Sea, Fisheries Law and Joint Development will be prioritized. We recognised that the excellence of postdoctoral researchers is critical for our overall success.

The Programme was launched with the objective of training persons to qualify in the sea and maritime law and to produce qualified researchers from different legal systems and countries by providing scholarships to promising and outstanding scholars and researchers to undertake postdoctoral research in related fields.

Academic Requirements:

The Programme is designed to help promising and outstanding researchers from who meet the following criteria:

• Have PhD degree in one of approved fields of the programme: Maritime Law or the Law of the Sea
• Have minimum (“Very Good”) academic standing.
• Have experience in the field of research.
• Must have a record of publications/research in the same field.
• Have a research proposal in one of the fields of study of the programme.
• Since all the researches in the programme will be held in English, a minimum of 70 points must have been obtained from IELTS or TOEFL exam.

Costs and Funding:

The academic year fees for 2021-2022 will be announced soon.

Candidates who fulfill the requirements, except the holders of Turkish Citizenships, can apply for “Türkiye Scholarship Program” (https://www.turkiyeburslari.gov.tr/). “Türkiye Scholarship Program” offers scholarships leading to a full-time Post-doctoral research (lasting from three months to twelve months) to foreign students from all over the world to study in Turkey. Postdoctoral scholarship program covers university and program placement, monthly stipend (4.000-TL), tuition fee, once-off return flight ticket, health insurance (accommodation). Furthermore, foreign Post-Doctoral fellows could be exempted from tuition fees in accordance with a protocol to be signed between DEHUKAM and the foreign institution or center that has recommended the fellows.
