Conference on “Arbitration in the Settlement of Maritime Law Disputes” Held

The Conference titled “Arbitration in the Settlement of Maritime Law Disputes,” organized in collaboration between DEHUKAM and the Turkish Arbitration Academy, was successfully held with the participation of leading experts in the field.

The event began with an opening speech by DEHUKAM CEO Dr. Mustafa Başkara, followed by a speech from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eda Manav Özdemir, Head of the Department of International Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution at the General Secretariat of the Presidency Directorate of Legal and Legislative Affairs.

During the conference:

Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, in his presentation titled “Resolution of Maritime Trade Disputes Through Arbitration in Turkish Law,” emphasized the role and significance of arbitration in resolving maritime disputes.
Dr. Güray Özsu, in his presentation titled “Arbitration Procedure under LMAA Rules,” shared technical insights into arbitration processes conducted under the London Maritime Arbitrators Association.
Lawyer Turgut Aycan Özcan, in his presentation titled “Application of Bilateral Investment Treaties to Investments on the Continental Shelf,” discussed the implications of the mechanisms embedded in bilateral investment treaties for such specialized investments.

The event attracted considerable interest from attendees and provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange in the fields of maritime law and arbitration, making meaningful contributions to academic dialogue and cooperation in the area.
