On May 7–8, 2025, the “Offshore Wind Türkiye 2025” Conference was held at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, led by the Offshore Wind Energy Association (DÜRED) in cooperation with the South Marmara Development Agency (GMKA), the Energy Industrialists and Business Association (ENSİA), and the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association (GİSBİR). As part of the conference, a special session was organized by the Ankara University National Center for the and Maritime Law (DEHUKAM).

This special session, which attracted significant participation from industry stakeholders, academics, and public sector representatives, hosted the presentation of the “Marine Spatial Planning Map of Republic of Türkiye,” which is of strategic importance for achieving sustainable development goals within Türkiye’s maritime areas.

During the DEHUKAM Special Session, DEHUKAM Researcher Büşra Deniz addressed global practices regarding marine spatial planning and recent developments within the European Union. She also shared details about the preparation process of the Marine Spatial Planning Map of Republic of Türkiye and the strategic information it contains.

The session was moderated by DEHUKAM CEO Dr. Mustafa Başkara, who emphasized that the map is not only a roadmap for sustainable energy production but also a strategic document for environmental protection and coordination among marine users. He also elaborated in detail on how the map serves as a guide for offshore wind energy investments.
