On October 16, 2025, the European Union published the Pact for the Mediterranean, which aims to ensure peace, prosperity, and security in the region recognized as the “Common Mediterranean Area.” The pact is based on the principles of joint ownership, co-creation, and shared responsibility. The Pact also seeks to restructure the European Union’s relations with its southern Mediterranean partners and enhance regional cooperation.
