The training program titled “Evaluation of Turkish Maritime Trade Law as 2025 Comes to an End”, organized on 12 December 2025 through the cooperation of the Ankara University National Research Center for Maritime Law (DEHUKAM), Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law, Dokuz Eylül University Aegean Region Application and Research Center (DEU EBAMER), and the Maritime Law Association, was successfully completed.
The program, which brought together Türkiye’s leading academics in the field of maritime trade law, was conducted in two sessions.
The First Session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Oğuz Sancakdar, Dean of Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law. During the session, Prof. Dr. Sezer Ilgın, Prof. Dr. Samim Ünan, Prof. Dr. Emine Yazıcıoğlu, and Prof. Dr. Kerim Atamer shared their insights on recent developments in Turkish maritime trade law, practical challenges, and academic perspectives.
The Second Session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Hacı Can, Head of the Private Law Department at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law. In this session, Prof. Dr. Serap Amasya, Prof. Dr. Nil Kula, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Doğuş Taylan Türkel addressed legislative amendments, judicial decisions, and sectoral implications that emerged in maritime trade law throughout 2025. Additionally, Prof. Dr. Nil Kula, who is also a Member of the Board of Directors and Chief Researcher at DEHUKAM, shared evaluations regarding cooperation between the Center, academia, and the sector.
Held with strong participation, the event contributed to strengthening academic scholarship in the field of maritime law in Türkiye and to addressing current legal debates on a solid scientific basis.
