The Law approving the “International Legally Binding Instrument under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ Agreement)” was published in the Official Gazette dated 27 December 2025.

With the enactment of this Law, an important step has been taken towards becoming a Party to the Agreement, which establishes the international legal framework for the conservation and sustainable use of marine biological diversity in areas beyond national jurisdiction. DEHUKAM closely follows all processes related to the BBNJ Agreement on behalf of Türkiye and provides support to these processes within the framework of the law of the sea.
