Dr. Mustafa Başkara, CEO of the Ankara University National Research Center for Sea and Maritime Law (DEHUKAM), participated as a speaker in the “Symposium on Current Issues in the Maritime Sector and Maritime Law,” organized by the Faculty of Law of Galatasaray University in Istanbul on 26 December 2025.

In his presentation titled “Türkiye’s Maritime Spatial Planning Map,” Dr. Başkara provided a comprehensive overview of Türkiye’s Maritime Spatial Planning Map. He addressed the legal dimensions of maritime spatial planning, its strategic importance for Türkiye, and recent developments in this field.

The symposium, which attracted significant interest from academics, sector representatives, and students, featured Dr. Başkara’s presentation as a key contribution, particularly for its evaluations concerning the sustainable use of maritime areas and the development of an effective legal framework to support this objective.
