DEHUKAM offers comprehensive internship programs for undergraduate and graduate students who wish to specialize in the law of the sea. These programs allow students who are interested in international law, maritime law and international relations, to reinforce their academic knowledge with practical experience.

DEHUKAM internship programs are organized to provide professional development opportunities for students studying maritime law and related fields, raise awareness of national and international maritime law issues and improve interns’ academic research skills.

Internship programs are organized three times a year, and applications are accepted in January, June and September. Internship periods are July-August, February-April and October-December. Summer internships last 8 weeks, and interns come to the center 4 days a week. Winter internships last 12 weeks, and interns come to the center 1 day a week.

During the application process, criteria such as grade point average, foreign language proficiency, filling out the application form completely, the student’s class status and suitability for the duration of the internship are considered. In addition, applicants must be successful in the interview process in order to be accepted to the program.

Within the scope of the internship program, students will have the opportunity to work with maritime law experts at DEHUKAM. They will have the opportunity to develop their theoretical knowledge with practical applications. During this process, interns will be involved in research and report preparation, legal analysis, following international maritime law regulations and participating in academic events/seminars. Upon successfully completing the program, participants will receive a certificate of participation documenting the internship process.

The internship program is not limited to law school students. Still, it is open to applications from undergraduate and graduate students studying in the law of the sea-related departments of all universities. DEHUKAM internship program is based on voluntarism.
