A book chapter entitled “Autonomous Ships and Time Charterparties,” authored by DEHUKAM Senior Researcher Asst. Prof. Ceren Cerit Dindar, examining the future of maritime law, has been published in the volume titled “Marine Technology, Ocean Governance and the Law of the Sea,” released by Cambridge University Press.
Questioning the traditional structure of maritime law, which is largely built upon the concept of the “crewed vessel,” within the context of ongoing technological transformation, the study focuses on the implications of autonomous ships for the law governing charterparty agreements. In her chapter, Dr. Cerit Dindar analyses the effects of autonomous operations on the rights and obligations of shipowners and charterers, while also assessing the extent to which existing standard charterparty forms are compatible with this new generation of vessels and identifying the areas where further adaptation or amendment may be required.
We extend our sincere congratulations to our senior researcher for this valuable contribution, which has been made available in open access, and wish her continued success in her academic endeavors.
