Within the framework of the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC-3), held in Nice, France from 9 to 12 June 2025, DEHUKAM CEO Dr. Mustafa Başkara participated as a speaker in the side event titled “Legal Indicator for Measuring the Effectiveness of Environmental Law: Assessing SDG 14 for the Protection of Seas, Oceans and Coastlines”, organized under the leadership of the Centre International de Droit Comparé de l’Environnement (CIDCE) on 11 June 2025.
The event also featured contributions from prominent international organizations working in the field of environmental law and marine protection, including the CIDCE, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Law Division, the UNEP/MAP Barcelona Convention Secretariat, the University of Malta, the University of Brasília, the Interdisciplinary Institute of Contemporary Anthropology – Center Edgar Morin (EHSS-CNRS), the Advisory Committee on the Protection of the Sea (ACOPS), and the Green Rights Coalition.
In his presentation, Dr. Başkara emphasized the necessity of developing legal indicators to assess the effectiveness of environmental law in Türkiye. He particularly highlighted the importance of addressing coastal zones and the Mediterranean region in this context.
