On Friday, September 12, a productive meeting was held between the DEHUKAM delegation and The Central Union of Turkish Marine Fishers Producers (DEMBIR).

The DEHUKAM delegation was represented by Prof. Dr. Yücel Acer, Board Member and Leading Researcher; Dr. Mustafa Başkara, CEO; and Researcher Emre Önsöz. DEMBIR was represented by Chairman of the Board Nihat Işık and Fisheries Engineer Kübra Sıla Söylemez.

During the visit, comprehensive evaluations were made regarding current developments in Türkiye’s seafood sector, sustainable fisheries policies, and international fishing activities. In addition, opportunities for developing joint projects within the framework of the EU Maritime and Fisheries Fund were also discussed.
This meeting between DEHUKAM and DEMBIR marked an important step towards strengthening cooperation between academia and the fisheries sector.
