The delegation of the Ankara University National Center for the Sea and Maritime Law (DEHUKAM) was received in Tripoli by H.E. Dr. Ibrahim Al Arabi Munir, Minister of Environment of Libya. The meeting was held with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the fields of law of the sea, marine environmental protection and the sustainable blue economy. The meeting was also attended by Major General Mustafa Al-Dim, Head of the Libyan Environmental Police Authority, along with several senior officials from the Ministry.
During the visit, the DEHUKAM delegation, together with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, exchanged views on marine environmental protection in the Mediterranean, combating marine pollution, and enhancing legal and technical capacity. The discussions also covered the protection of Libya’s coastal and marine ecosystems and the development of joint research and training activities in the field of marine environment.
Minister Dr. Munir expressed his appreciation for Türkiye’s constructive contributions to environmental and marine initiatives in the region, emphasizing the importance of strengthening scientific and legal partnerships and enhancing the capacities of national Libyan institutions.
The DEHUKAM delegation mentioned about the Center’s activities in the fields of law of the sea, marine environment, and climate change, expressing readiness to cooperate with Libyan institutions in scientific research, legislative development and professional training.
