The “Blue Economy and Marine Spatial Planning Workshop” held on October 21-23, 2024, at Selectum City Ataşehir Istanbul Hotel, organized under the “Project for Capacity Development in Marine Environmental Law within the Framework of the Barcelona Convention and Other International Documents” supported by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and conducted by DEHUKAM.
The workshop commenced with opening speeches by DEHUKAM’s Leading Researcher Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir and the General Director of Environmental Management at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Mr. Fatih Turan. During the workshop, representatives from DEHUKAM, the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, the United Nations Development Programme, METU Institute of Marine Sciences, TÜBİTAK MAM, Turkish Marine Environment Protection Association, and the Turkish Shipbuilders’ Association delivered presentations on their ongoing efforts related to marine spatial planning and the blue economy. Additionally, participants completed and discussed responses to questionnaires on Marine Spatial Planning and the Blue Economy during discussion sessions.
The workshop program concluded with a closing speech by Mr. Fatih Turan, General Director of Environmental Management at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, followed by the presentation of certificates to the participants.
