DEHUKAM CEO Dr. Mustafa Başkara, Attended the Mediterranean Maritime Security Conference

On March 14, 2025, Dr. Mustafa Başkara, DEHUKAM CEO, participated as a speaker at the international conference titled “Connectivity and Maritime Security for the Mediterranean”, held in Rijeka, Croatia. The event brought together leading academics, diplomats, and policymakers from the European Union, NATO, and regional countries to discuss the future of maritime security in the Mediterranean, regional cooperation, and threats to critical infrastructure.
Dr. Başkara contributed to the panel “Maritime Security Beyond the Mediterranean”, where he emphasized the interlinkages between the Mediterranean and other regional seas such as the Black Sea, Red Sea, and Atlantic Ocean. In his remarks, he highlighted Türkiye’s maritime security policies and legal approaches in regional waters, stressing the importance of protecting critical undersea infrastructure and strengthening cooperation within the framework of international law.
Dr. Başkara’s participation underlined DEHUKAM’s active role in regional and global maritime legal studies and contributed to increasing international visibility of Türkiye’s academic engagement in maritime security issues. The conference stood out as one of the first regional platforms to approach maritime security through the lens of sustainability and connectivity.
