The Decree signed by H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan President of Republic of Türkiye approving the “Agreement Under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biological Diversity of Areas Beyond National Jurisdiction (BBNJ Agreement)” was published in the Official Gazette dated 31 December 2025.

With this Decree, an important step has been taken towards entering BBNJ Agreement into force. DEHUKAM closely follows all processes related to the BBNJ Agreement on behalf of Türkiye and provides support to these processes within the framework of the law of the sea.
