DEHUKAM and ITUBOA Signed Cooperation Protocol on Sea and Maritime Law

A cooperation protocol was signed between the Ankara University National Center for the Sea and Maritime Law (DEHUKAM) and the Istanbul Technical University Turkish Straits Maritime Applications and Research Center (ITUBOA) to foster collaboration in education, scientific research, joint projects, and national and international academic activities in the field of sea and maritime law.

The protocol was signed during a ceremony held at the Rectorate of Istanbul Technical University, attended by Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, Rector of Istanbul Technical University, Süleyman Önel, Chair of the Board of Directors of DEHUKAM, Dr. Mustafa Başkara, DEHUKAM CEO, Dr. Fırat Bolat, Director of ITUBOA and representatives of both institutions.

Within the scope of the protocol, the two institutions will cooperate to advance interdisciplinary scientific studies, develop joint research projects, organize educational activities, and strengthen academic knowledge sharing in areas of mutual interest, including the law of the sea, maritime policies, the Turkish Straits, maritime security, the marine environment and the blue economy.

This collaboration between DEHUKAM and ITUBOA is expected to contribute to strengthening scientific capacity in the maritime sector, fostering a culture of collaborative research and supporting Türkiye’s maritime policies through academic cooperation.

We hope that this cooperation protocol will be beneficial for both institutions and contribute to advancing Türkiye’s sea and maritime vision and the production of scientific knowledge in the maritime domain.
