As Ankara University National Center for the Sea and Maritime Law (DEHUKAM), participation in TEKNOFEST Blue Homeland, held at the Gölcük Naval Shipyard Command from 20 to 23 August 2026, was attended by Chair of the Board of Directors Süleyman Önel, CEO Dr. Mustafa Başkara, COO Dr. Adnan Menderes Aydın, Senior Researcher Dr. Alperen Furkan Taş, Researchers Emre Önsöz, Çağrı Ünal, and Mehmet İlkuçan and Administrative Staff Member Sefa Arslan.
Throughout the four-day event, visitors were welcomed at the DEHUKAM stand and informed about the Center’s national and international activities, projects, and educational programs in the field of the law of the sea. Participants of all ages were engaged through informative discussions on Türkiye’s maritime jurisdiction areas, the Blue Homeland vision, marine spatial planning, and current issues in the law of the sea.
As part of the event, Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the T3 Foundation and Chairman of the Board of TEKNOFEST, visited the DEHUKAM stand together with Admiral Dr. Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, Commander of the Turkish Naval Forces. During the visit, information was provided on the Center’s activities and its work in the field of the law of the sea.
DEHUKAM CEO Dr. Mustafa Başkara presented Selçuk Bayraktar with Türkiye’s Marine Spatial Planning Map (Blue Homeland Map). Bayraktar was briefed on the Türkiye Marine Spatial Planning Map, which was made public on 16 April 2025 and registered with the United Nations on 12 June 2025. He was also informed about the two new Marine National Parks designated in the Aegean Sea and the Mediterranean Sea by Presidential Decision. DEHUKAM’s printed publications were also reviewed with interest by Selçuk Bayraktar.
Within the scope of TEKNOFEST Blue Homeland, where Türkiye’s maritime capacity and technological capabilities were showcased across a broad spectrum ranging from maritime and underwater technologies to the defense industry, DEHUKAM conveyed to visitors the importance of the law of the sea in achieving Türkiye’s maritime objectives, as well as the academic and scientific work carried out in this field. The Blue Homeland vision, which is of particular importance for safeguarding Türkiye’s rights and interests at sea and passing them on to future generations, was introduced to visitors of all ages through the legal and academic perspective offered by the law of the sea.
