The Opening Meeting of the Project which is conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change “Capacity Development in Marine Environment Law within the Framework of the Barcelona Convention and other International Documents” was held online on August 4, 2023.

The Opening Meeting, which was held with the participation of many Ministries, Universities and Non-Governmental Grganizations, started with the opening speeches of Mr. Ferudun Tekbıyık, Deputy Director General of Environmental Management of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change and Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, Project Manager.

Following the opening speeches, Mr. Mustafa Başkara, Deputy Project Manager and DEHUKAM CEO, made a presentation titled “Introducing the Work Packages and Project Team of the Project for Capacity Development in Marine Environment Law within the Framework of the Barcelona Convention and other International Documents”.

The meeting continued with the presentation of Dr. Devrim Tezcan, Project Expert on Maritime Spatial Planning, on “Maritime Spatial Planning Processes and Activities to be carried out within the Framework of the Project” and the presentation of Prof. Dr. Barış Salihoğlu, Project Expert on Climate Change Regional Assessment, on “The Effects of Climate Change on the Mediterranean Basin and the Activities carried out under the Barcelona Convention and its Additional Protocols”.
Finally, the Opening Meeting was concluded with the closing speeches delivered by Prof. Dr. Yücel Acer, Project Advisor and Ms. Nazan Özyürek, Head of the Department of Marine and Coastal Management.
